It can help a little, since reviewing goes quicker and the handover settles in sooner, but what really matters is that you know which part of your product we're building and can share the detail behind it. The rules in your head are the one thing nobody outside your business can guess, and they matter far more than any technical vocabulary.
It's five working days from kickoff. Kickoff is when your brief, materials and any access are in, not when you pay. That means the date is yours to set rather than one imposed on you: if you send the brief a week later, the week simply moves with it.
The first half reserves a build week just for you, and it means you're never handing over the full amount before there's a written scope. The second half is due at handover, when the repo transfers to you and it goes live on your domain, so neither of us has to rely on the other's goodwill. MVP Mini is the exception: it doesn't reserve a week, so there's nothing to hold and you pay once.

After that there's no licence, no hosting to keep renting from us, and nothing that stops working if we never speak again.
That's exactly why you see it early. If it isn't what the scope document agreed, we fix it. If you've changed your mind about what you want, that's completely fine too: it becomes a new scope, and we'll talk it through honestly.
